INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SEATS AND ATTACHMENTS

As with servicing any product, certain hazards exist. Use caution and common sense when using hand tools, and adhere to all safety procedures.

ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

This seat must only be installed by properly skilled and trained personnel who are familiar with local rules and regulations. The engine must be shut off, ignition key removed, parking brake applied and wheels blocked. If an operator presence switch is to be added, it is recommended that the battery be disconnected during installation.

When fitting the new seat to the equipment, remove the bolts/nuts holding the existing seat in place. Discard these bolts and use the new ones provided with the seat in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s recommendations. On most seats it is recommended that at least four 5/16” – 18 bolts or nuts be used to mount the seat. In some applications only two bolts are needed. When using new hardware always make sure you use the correct size and thread, if not DAMAGE will occur to the threaded inserts. The recommended dynamic torque is 80 +/- 15 in-lbs. for bolting into the bottom mounting nuts in the plastic shell. Do not operate the equipment if the seat is not securely fastened according to the equipment manufacturer’s specifications.

FORE/AFT ADJUSTERS and SUSPENSION KITS

If the seat is to be installed with fore/aft adjusters and or a suspension kit. Mount the adjusters to the seat bottom using the mounting bolts described above, then secure to the suspension kit. Orient the adjuster handle and weight adjustment handle to properly project out the front side of the seat. This handle can be used to unlock the adjusters, which will allow the seat to slide backwards and forward to a comfortable latched position for the operator. Check to ensure that the seat or suspension kit does not strike any part of the cab, wiring or any of the controls as it is moved through the fore/aft stroke. Ensure the seat is locked in place before operating the equipment. Do not operate the adjusters while the equipment is moving. Do not operate the equipment if the adjusters are loose, broken, or malfunctioning.

The installer must ensure that the suspension is positioned and mounted properly so that the seat, safety belts, tether belts, tether mounting points and floor anchor points meet FMVSS 207/210 SEA standards and others when applicable. The installer must also ensure that there is adequate head clearance above the seat for the occupant while the vehicle/machine is in motion. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

OPERATOR PRESENCE SWITCH

If the seat is to be fitted with an Operator Presence Switch, ensure the correct switch is being installed, and make sure not to place a strain on the connecting wires or the switch. It is recommended that the battery be disconnected during the OPS switch installation. Ensure that the correct connections are fitted to the wires and that all the connections are secure and will not become damaged while using the equipment. Check for proper operation of the switch as described by the equipment manufacturer. If the equipment has an Operator Presence Switch, do not operate the equipment if the switch is not properly functioning.

ARMRESTS

If installing armrests, follow the instructions included in the armrest kit. Armrests are not meant to be sat or stood on. To do so creates a hazard and an unsafe condition. Only operate the equipment from a fully seated position. Do not sit or stand on the armrests!

SEAT BELTS

Mount the seat belts in accordance with equipment manufacturer’s recommendations, all local rules and regulations, and the instructions included in the seat belt kit. If the vehicle is not equipped with Roll-Over Protection Structures, then seat belts should not be installed. Seats are component parts, so check with your local authorized dealer for your equipment before installing seat belts. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to insure the proper mounting and use of the seat and seat belts.

INSTALLER’S (CUSTOMER) RESPONSIBILITY

THE INSTALLER (CUSTOMER) IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT IN EACH APPLICATION. IT IS THE CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE THAT THE SEATS ARE PROPER FOR THE FITNESS AND USE IN THIS APPLICATION. USE OF COMMON SENSE AND STRICT ADHERENCE TO ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES IS REQUIRED TO BE SAFE FROM INJURY OR DEATH. ALWAYS CHECK AND ALLOW FOR ADEQUATE HEAD ROOM FOR THE OPERATOR DURING ROUGH TERRAIN OPERATING IN CAB AND OPEN ROPS APPLICATION.
